English version

Today I had to run some errands on the street, so I took off my apron and went out to take care of those everyday tasks. I’d already planned to have lunch out there, since I knew I’d be back very late. After I was done with my afternoon errands, I decided to give the little café in the Manzanares Shopping Center a try; I wanted to try something different from the burgers, falafels, and hot dogs offered at every street stall in the city center.

I headed to the café and ordered a chicken shawarma with an apple juice. To my surprise, the food was served at my table in ten minutes, which made me happy, but when I took the first bite, I was disappointed because it was very cold. Still, I kept eating to figure out what the ingredients were.

I detected a slight bitter taste inside the pita bread, so I opened it and realized that the lettuce still had its stems. Personally, I like to wash the lettuce with vinegar and remove the stems; that way, you avoid this unpleasant taste—although some people enjoy it, I personally prefer to remove them.

Overall, the chicken breast inside the bread was well-seasoned and there was enough of it to really taste the flavor, served with tomato sauce, garlic, and mayonnaise. It also had tomatoes—I really liked that fresh touch. The good thing was that I got to enjoy a different kind of lunch; although it could have been better, it was enough to satisfy my appetite.
