Hello everyone, I hope you are very well, today I join the initiative of this talented community of Empower Talent with
@angelica7, who makes us reflect week after week on issues that touch our heart, this time talking about the chains that bind us in terms of fears and with which we live tied for years.
In my particular case there are things and situations that make me very afraid and I have not yet overcome and I do not think I will, it is difficult to break these chains, but I have learned to live with them and it is not because I am pessimistic, but rather because I feel that they are already part of my life and for me have been somewhat difficult and have become more like phobias.
One of them is the contact with snakes, this is an animal that I definitely have a phobia, I feel that I collapse just having it near, I have had several approaches with this reptile and I think that's where it all started, it is an animal that for me is diabolical and represents all the bad in the world, besides being the cause of many deaths by its bite. I don't believe when they say that one or the other is not dangerous, because if its venom doesn't kill you, its bite kills you.

The strange thing is that I am not afraid of any animal, I am not afraid of cockroaches, mice or spiders, the normal fear with which I can grab a shoe and throw it. I can even have close contact with lions, tigers, crocodiles and they don't scare me, just the normal, sometimes I have joked that I can do some bows to a lion, but not touch a snake.
Another of my fears is with bridges, especially those over water. And I feel that it is the worst way to die, I have tried to face this fear and it has been impossible, my parents took me to see the bridge over the lake of Maracaibo when I was a teenager and it did not end well, I felt that my blood stopped circulating through my body just when I saw the car entering that huge bridge with so much deep water, it was horrible, I remember my mom told me that I turned pale and I was paralyzed.
Luckily the stay in Maracaibo was quick, I felt insecure, as if I was not standing on solid ground in that state, I just wanted to go back, when I returned the impression was the same, so I just lowered my head and when we finished crossing the bridge I got in again and my mom carried me hugging me until I stopped being cold.

Strangely I love the beach, the view of the sea and the feeling of walking on the sand, but it is an experience that I only like for a short time, I don't like deep water, I don't go swimming alone on the beach or in a river, I don't like boat rides or boats. I've never been to an island, it's something that terrifies me.
And I think it's because I don't know how to swim and I've been afraid of drowning, of sea animals like sharks, of sunamis and those things related to water. Every now and then I go to the beach and enjoy its splendor in company, but I feel helpless in the sea, that's why I don't like scuba diving or water activities that are not on the shore and in company. That's why I always prefer swimming pools and never swim alone.
There are things with which we only feel helpless, with the passage of time and for the sake of this fear of deep water out of my life, I have tried in many ways to mentalize myself that everything will be fine and I have ridden on boats and barges crossing the Orinoco and Caroni rivers and although I disscimulate more fear, I really go terrified.

A few years ago I went to do social work in the indigenous communities of the Orinoco Delta, I was excited to help, but when it was my turn to get on the boat I did not feel good, I felt that at any moment I was going to die, that it was going to turn over and a river animal would eat us. We arrived at an indigenous school where they told us how the snakes used to appear on the roof of the school and on the stairs when they came out of the water.
We had to pass by the side of one of those huge oil tankers, it was the biggest ship I had ever seen, I felt it was like the Titanic ha, ha, ha, ha and we passed by one side and we looked like a miniature, I remember that they turned off the engines of the boat where we were because the vibration of passing near that huge ship could turn us over, so in each curve of the river I was making my will in my mind ha, ha, ha, ha.
It was a nice intention to help our indigenous brothers, but I don't think I will visit the Delta canyons again or anything like that, or that they will send me as Governor ha, ha, ha, ha. I can help in other ways. These are the fears that I have lived with that have marked me the most and that I avoid, in order to live as calmly as possible and with the greatest amount of happiness that I can have.
