¡Hola a todos! Feliz domingo y bienvenidos a mi blog.

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday and welcome to my blog. I'm Yeli Marín, Venezuelan journalist, mother of three boys -each one with his own world-, graduate student, housewife and, in short, a woman who never stops.
From all my stages, I take with me a gigantic learning experience. For years, I lived in a constant cycle of restarting and self-sabotage. But when I turned 40, something clicked. I realized that my life was not on the right track. I felt trapped in a depression, and my refuge was fast food, sugary drinks and desserts. It was my bread and butter, whatever didn't require me to spend time and effort in the kitchen.
Insomnia, lack of energy and irritability were my companions. I was so sensitive that I came to think I had lost my purpose. And even though I know I have them, depression is that gray cloud that settles over you and transforms your world into something negative, making you believe there is no way out.

But at that point, I had only two paths: fight that situation, even if it meant confronting myself over and over again, or let myself fall into the family pattern I wanted so badly to avoid. A few years ago, my mom passed away from complications of diabetes and being overweight. She was remembered for having an amazing body, but after getting married and having children, she started gaining a lot of weight, just like my dad, who in his youth was an athlete.
Growing up with excesses in food, sweets and sodas, for me, was normal. Oddly enough, this didn't affect my weight for a long time, until it became a problem. A couple of years ago, I started gaining a lot of weight, and I convinced myself that I didn't care, that I just wanted to be happy no matter what I looked like. But, in reality, it was a shell. Every time I struggled to choose clothes or get dressed, my insecurities came to the fore.
Every month I would promise myself that I would make a change, that I would go back to being that confident woman with a “bodacious body” that I once was. But then came Mondays and, with them, the diets that started and ended on Tuesdays. In December, I weighed myself and the scale read 200 pounds. I had never weighed that much. I became depressed, and my love-hate relationship with food and all my ailments persisted.

Me he enfrentado a la procrastinación, al sedentarismo, y me he puesto límites. Aunque a veces decaigo, mi objetivo sigue siendo el mismo.

Trabajo a diario conmigo misma, entendiendo que debo cuidarme, quererme. He empezado por aprender a hablarme bonito. Me he sentido cansada y confrontada, pero he seguido adelante.

I promised myself that in January everything would change. And I confess that this has been a tremendous struggle. It's not just dieting and exercising; it's battling against myself and against the self-sabotage I've always had. I have been on alert, in a constant struggle where I have realized that I only have one life and there are no spares. I have confronted procrastination, sedentary lifestyles, and I have set limits for myself. Although sometimes I decline, my goal remains the same.
I work daily with myself, understanding that I must take care of myself, love myself. I have started by learning to speak nicely to myself. I have implemented some changes that have allowed me to improve a lot. It's not just about going to the gym or dieting; it's something deeper, with a strong emotional connection. I've felt tired and confronted, but I've kept going. I aspire that, by the end of the year, I can be someone else's inspiration. I'm still not where I want to be, but I'm a long way from where I started.
