Abuelos, esos tesoros [Esp-Eng]

Grandparents, those treasures [Eng]

alt

Being grandparents is like being parents again, some privileged people tell me. In her wrinkled hands, the sometimes lost gaze and that snow that shines over the years inhabits the experience that transforms, the word that calms, the advice that always has time.
Grandparents carry on their shoulders imperishable lessons, timely intervention in family conflicts, succulent stories...
With them we discover better who we are and reinvent ourselves, even when their nesting appears after one of our walks.
A grandfather is a wise man within everyone’s reach, it is the snack without asking, the surprise of any day, the puzzle that gets lost between eyes and unique words. For a grandfather, there is no impossible, or at least it seems so. He can be a magician, play around, tell stories, know everything... And you end up believing every story with the greatest naturalness in the world. Because there, in the remnant of his face, you know that you will find peace, joy and a kind of key to all the answers.
¡Poor grandfather relegated to the solitude of a balance or some taciturn portal! Poor those who do not understand that there is a treasure, a root, the opportunity to grow...!.
The grandfather is like that sepia branch that remains in the tree, in the family tree, without perhaps suspecting that it groups all our essences. Sometimes we see the stronger offspring or spiders ignoring it, whether they know or not that they deny an indispensable part of their identity.
Blessed is the grandfather embraced, listened to, pampered and understood. And blessed are also those who cultivate a grandfather’s smiles.
Hug grandpa tight now that you can. Stay there on his heart even if he doesn’t understand your words or maybe in the clouds of his head I don’t remember you anymore.
Help him to be like a child, but don’t put him down. Remind him that you love him, that you care, that you need him. Treat it as you would like to be treated one day. Live it. Tomorrow, tomorrow may be too late.
