Hello everyone! Today I am going to share some pictures I took during my visit to Kuala Selangor. It was still being developed and painted but I got pictures of the parts that were complete. There were many beautiful murals on the walls specially dedicated to the name and culture of the location.
This is the welcome greetings in vibrant colours. They are quite new. The smaller words in black translate to 'Beautiful and historic Kuala Selangor'. This has become a common trend now where the name of a town is painted in bright colours. It serves an aesthetic purpose besides displaying the name so people can take pictures by standing next to the words.
As you can see there are stairs on the left we need to climb to get near the words.
There were many murals painted on the walls of the nearby buildings.
This is the mural on the wall that was right in front of me. It has a map of the place actually. If you look closely it has the streets and pathways leading to the river as this is a fishing town. It also has a mark of where we are at the moment.
Here you can see that they also marked the important places for tourists such as Sky Mirror and Bukit Melawati. The small sign post near the river also has the distance of each location from where we are. For example, it states that Bukit Melawati is 1km from here while Taman Alam (Nature Park) is 850m from here.
This is the adjacent wall which has another beautiful mural painted on it.
I have already visited this place. There are many monkeys living there in the forest. They look like the picture and they are wild monkeys existing naturally there. There are large troops of monkeys living there and they are very protective of each other. One time I saw a man getting too close to a baby monkey and the alpha quickly jumped to their defense. At the time I went, visitors could buy vegetables for them and feed them. However I am not sure about the rules now. There are also many flora in the place we can check out.
This is also a historic place which is why you can see some cannons in the image. The tall building is a lighthouse. There cannons are real and we can read their history on the labels when we get there. It was a fortress back then and battles were fought. There are other interesting parts in the location as well such as the poisoned well, museum and even a part where traitors used to be punished.
This is a structure of a clock I found nearby.
This is a closer look of it. Honestly, I don't know if there is any purpose or used like a stage for events but I do think it serves aesthetic purposes.
This is actually an office with counters selling tickets for some of the tourist spots. On the front of it. It says 'I love KS'. KS stands for Kuala Selangor.
As you can see, there were people queuing up to buy tickets. On the outside where I was, there was a large board flags of different countries of the world including Malaysia. We can stand there and take pictures. I even helped 2 wonderful, friendly Malay aunties who were visiting. We had a nice chat too.
This is the other side of the wall which is on the left of the entrance. It was painted in blue like the sea and the words state 'I love Sky Mirror'. Sky Mirror is a special place where the seabed appears above water. When the tide is low we can see the sea and sky meet. We can also stand on it and see our reflection appear directly on water while also enjoying checking out other sea lives scattered on the surface such as clams, baby crabs and shells.
This is a large poster of Sky Mirror. You can see how the person looks mirrored on the surface of the low tide sea.
This table shows the pricing of the tickets. The locals like me have the privilege of lower price rates in comparison to the foreigners.
These are the activities that are offered in the Sky Mirror.
This is the bridge pathway leading to the jetty with boats. Only the people with tickets are allowed to get through this so I only got a picture. Someday I will go in and take more pictures.
There are some forest areas all around by the way, with many monkeys and squirrels living there. I bet there are some snakes too.
This is just a bonus picture. If you look closely, there are two birds trying to get the fruits of the tree.
