Hello everyone! I was supposed to post my Inktober Day 7 yesterday but I fell asleep very early with the lights on. When I woke up after an hour or so, I just called it a day and postponed my Inktober to the next day which is today. So here's my Inktober Day 7 drawing.
The prompt for Inktober Day 7 is 'Panic'
The Backstory
My first panic moment was when I was 5 years old. I was going to my kindergarten that day. My mother and I waited to get into the lift. It came by and I got in first. Then, boom! The doors immediately closed. I was stuck all alone in the lift for the first time in my life. At that age, I didn't even know how to read the numbers well. I only knew my floor, and the open and close button which I kept pressing to no avail.
The lift was going to the higher floors in double digits which I have never been to as well. So I screamed and kicked the doors as they won't open. I was in tears, but they were angry tears. It was a vintage lift by the way, so the doors closed hard with some noise and there are no sensors that opens the doors in case people place their hand in between. After a few seconds, it stopped at a higher floor, and the doors opened. An aunty got in and I calmed down as I wasn't alone anymore. Then the lift stopped again at my floor and my mother got in. I was relieved. So that was my first panic moment and that's what I decided to draw for this prompt.
The Process
First of all, I drew my face with the panicking expression. It was the moment I captured in my mind when the lift doors closed. My hair was actually in boy cut back then. But I like them in pig tails. I even requested my parents to buy me a wig. It was actually a hat that had fake pigtails attached to it.
Then, I drew my uniform with shoes. As I was drawing the right hand, I messed it up. So I moved to the other hand and drew it looking like I'm holding a water bottle. I did have a bottle like that back then. I forgot to draw my school bag which was in a cute teal green colour. So let's just pretend my mother was holding my bag, which I think she did.
Here I just made some adjustments to the drawing by extending the part of the messy drawing hand and drew the lift buttons. I remember back then I did try pressing my floor button and the open button. But the lift just kept going up. I panicked real bad. I also drew the door. The part with the lines hurts if we happen to be rushing into the lift and it hits us. I learned that the hard way after I got a little older.
This is how my uniform looked like. It had red checked design on the skirt. The tie wasn't a real tie and it was actually like a little ribbon readily attached on the dress. Yes, it's a dress that looks like blouse and skirt. I just used a red pen and inked my way to draw the design. The real dress had two variations of red but I wanted to keep it simple for the sketch.
I drew some slanted lines in blue on the rest of the lift doors. I also added arrows to indicate that the lift doors were closing. I finally added a few more details like the cold sweats and lines all around my head to further emphasize how I felt at the moment. This is the final outcome featuring my first panic moment of life.
So I am officially one day behind on my Inktober prompt now. I hope to catch up soon. This inktober art was fun to make. I did get stuck in the lift as an adult too. I mean, literally jammed lift. But I didn't panic this time and I just called the management right away. They rescued me soon after. Anyways thank you for reading until here. I wish you a great day ahead!
