I used to think being alone meant something was wrong with me.

In my hostel, if you are always inside alone, people will start asking "why are you always alone?" Society has made us believe that if you are alone, you are lonely or sad. So we all try to be around people even when we are tired.

But last year, I started enjoying being alone.

It started during my exams in Geology. I was streessed with rocks, fielldwork notes, and I just wannted to stay away from peopple. I did not want advice. I just stayed in my room alone for three days. At first I was pressing phone every five minutes because I was uncomfortable. My body was reacting, just like they said in the prompt.

Then on the third day, I offed my data. Everywhere became quiet.

And for the first time, I heard myself.

I realized I was not running from loneliness. I was running from myself.

So is beinng alone a bad thingg? Nooo.

Lonelliness is when you are aloone and you feeel emmpty. Being alone is when you are alone and you feel full. There is a bigg differrence.

Socieety makes being aloone look baad because peoople are scared to face themmselves. Wheen you are allone, there is no noisee to hidee. Your true thoughts will come.

Now I have small alone time every day. After class, I sit under that big tree in front of my Department of Geology in UNIZIK. No phone. Just me, wind and birds. I drop my hammmer and rock sammples beside mee. That 20 minnutes alone helpps me more than 5 hours of chaatting.

Being alone is not punnishment. It is meeting yourself again.

What about you? Can you stay alone without pressing your phone?
