Hello everyone! This is @ybanezkim26 and I'll present today's edition of Travel Digest. In our featured posts, we have an island in Alaska, USA, the city of Bolzano, Italy, and the town of Whitby, United Kingdom. Enjoy and keep on pinning your travel posts to the map!
This week, for the first time ever, we are taking the Safari Explorer to a very remote corner of the Alaskan coast, a place called Kayak Island. It is very hard to get to, so there isn't a lot of information on it. But it is famous for being the 'discovery point' of Alaska for the western world. On July 20, 1741, a landing group from Vitus Bering's expedition of discovery came ashore on Kayak Island. George Wilhelm Steller, the expedition's naturalist and physician, was among them. Bering never actually came ashore, and Steller only ended up having 10 hours to make observations that became some of the earliest scientific records of Alaska's plants, animals, geography, and indigenous presence.

Sometimes, it’s nice not to have everything planned—to just sit back, look out the window, and feel the moment. We enjoyed the views along the way, talked, laughed, and took in the atmosphere around us.
Our destination was the city center, where we wanted to experience what the place had to offer. We were excited to walk around, discover beautiful spots, see the local life, and simply enjoy being together in a new place.

We went for a day trip to Whitby, a seaside town in North Yorkshire along the English coast. It has a long history as a busy port. Famous explorer Captain Cook lived here during his youth while learning navigation on local coal ships. Today it is a popular place to visit.
