Among the many things that should be done like fighting corruption and reducing crime rates, the medical sector of my country is playing a constant part in fighting HIV or let me say diagnosing people of HIV and reminding them that their days on earth are numbered 😂.
I've come across and successfully passed by many HIV testing center or small gatherings but today, I was caught.
A friend of mine visited me at my place of work during lunch break and as we were wandering around looking for lunch, this gentleman walked up to us.
The people that are assigned as marketers know how to play their cards just right. On a normal day I'd say, "no thank you, not interested" because it's not today of all days that HIV from the air would enter my nostrils, but today, I decided to do less of the evading and more of the listening.
He offered us a sit and began giving us a lecture. I was trying my best to be a good listener and give full attention but then, I turned to my friend and she was stifling her laughter… I almost laughed but I composed myself.
The guy went on and on and eventually gave us a self test kit. Me, I had already made up my mind that I will not do the test. I know myself and I am well aware of the fact that I'm HIV negative.
The day went on by and this evening, as I sat on my reading table to do some work, I saw the kit. It was just staring at me. The packet so attractive and I just wanted to reap it open and yes, I did.
I opened it and the first thing that came out was the holder. I read the instruction manual and realized that they wrote everything in pidgin English. I'm well aware of the fact that many people can speak pidgin English but not so many can read it.
I struggled my way through all the letter, trying to read in a lay-mans style and I figured it out.
The process was quite easy but my heart starting beating. In my mind I was like, "after all the bragging I did, what if it came out positive? " and then I immediately killed the idea because there is no way it would be bad… but to fulfil all righteousness, I began the process proper
I took out the liquid mixture and placed it on the stand. The liquid
mixture clearly stated that we shouldn't take it inside our mouth by any means, they probably assumed that someone somewhere may get very thirty and decide to drink it😂. I respectively took out the thing that looked like a scapula and swiped through my gum, top and bottom. After swiping, I put it into the liquid mixture and began timing.
The test needed to be time for twenty minutes. The countdown began. I started seeing strange lines on the test strip. What was all these😅.
I just set an alarm, stood up and left because it's not me that this test strip will be using to play X and O.
Twenty minutes later I went back to check the results. I am writing this with so much peace of mind so you can guess what the result was.
It came out negative and I was like.. "why not?"
But on second thoughts, HIV test is one of the only things people would be happy to see a negative results. A person with a negative result on his examination is totally different from a person with a negative result in his HIV test result. I just wished that 
On a lighter note,we all need to be certain about our health statuses. Don't be like me, walk into a testing center and get yourself tested. It for your good and for the good of the whole. The best part of it all is the fact that it's free!.
