Many people probably may have guessed who I would be talking about before I even did. But if you didn't guess, then stay tuned as I take you on this journey of discovery.
A throwback
Being the very reserved person that I am, highschool was really bland. I usually spoke to people and we had great rapport but that was just where it ended. Trusting people easily isn't one of my big flexes and as such I could be described as oil floating on water.
This continued this way till my first year in senior high(SS1). I was placed in a class with so many smart people. Trust me when I say that my own intelligence couldn't compare to that of the rest of my classmates; or so I thought. With this mindset, I was totally withdrawn. The mindset I had was
"These people are already too smart, so why stress myself? They would always come top in class so what's the need of even reading?". I honestly didn't like that class at all.
With this, I found my spot at the back of the class. This was where I met her (@jhymi) and other amazing people. Normally, the stereotype people have about backbenchers is that " they are the dumb ones in the class" but we debunked this stereotype. Tessa sat in front while I sat behind. Honestly, my seat partners and the few people I spoke with from the seat in front of me were the ones that made my stay in that class worthwhile.
Tessa
Two years later, the final year students were all forcedto move to the hostel. It was in the hostel that my bond with Tessa became stronger. We literally went everywhere together, did everything together; except reading of course. She was an art student and I was a science student. My most fond memories of us from highschool were our evening strolls and our night discussions; the discussions were always so juicy and thrilling.
We would take walks before or after the evening refectory and the experiences from these numerous hikes are stories for another day. But honestly, I don't know how I would have coped without her in highschool. I probably would have kept the oil floating on the water.
She probably would like this part but I'm going to say it anyway:). There are a lot of amazing features that she possesses and those who have come across her on the Blockchain may have noticed some of them.
I can't talk about Tessa without mentioning K.drama. She loves everything about the Koreans and I think her favourite group of K.pop artists are the BTS (bangtan boys). She knows all of them by their names, their faces and even their birthdays! Infact, she could different them by their fingers; if you doubt this, then give it a try. Sometimes I wonder how she does it,hehe. I feel that they all have the same face and so knowing them individually is a superpower.
Tessa is also an avid reader. Give her novels and you would have a special spot in her heart. One of her favourite authors passed away some time ago and she was so sad; that's how much she loves reading.
She loves stargazing and I think I got this from her. She literally avoids anything that would stress her out like a plague; another thing we have in common.
This article isn't all about her amazing qualities. There is one outstanding negative quality of hers and it's the fact that she doesn't condone things that do not sit right with her(a.k.a nonsense(. She's one to speak out whenever things do not sit right with her. Society views this as negative but I think it's a good trait. In my opinion, it's always better to speak up rather than die slowly within.
Tessa and I share a whole lot in common yet we are so different. I like to play badminton and she's a handball player. I prefer eating in and she prefers eating out. I like to read about history and humans in general and she would prefer to read a novel at any point in time. I could keep going onπ
I do not want to get all mushy but she's one friend that I would love to keep for as long as time would let. I'm grateful that I came across her. If you do not have a Tessa in your life, please get one; not my Tessa tho π.
Ps: jhymi and Tessa are different names for the same person.
