For clarity, the term GATVOL is a slang, Afrikaans, word used in South Africa that means... very pissed, extremely angry, and phrases with similar meaning,
Anyway, back to why...
All the videos and self motivational videos I have watched have taught me that my future is in my hands and i am where I am because of decisions I have made in the past. This I agree with, I am the master of my destiny and what I do today decides my future.
What gets my goat is people with blinders on. I have been employed at a local municipality in South Africa for the past 16 years. This is not all I can be, I feel my purpose for being here is more than to live and work as a modern day slave. In the past slaves were remunerated with food and lodging. today we work our assess off and we spend our money on mortgages and food. Its modern day slavery and yet people are blinded to that. These blind people then tell you that your ideas and dreams of removing yourself from slavery is wrong and that you should think about it because jobs are scarce.
Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for what I have. this is what I must also hear over and over from the ignorant masses blinded by the system: "Be grateful for what you have, there are people who have less." I would love to go out and supply blankets to the homeless or have food drives to feed the hungry, but that's never gonna happen while I, myself, am in a different form of slavery.
Then, what pisses me off even more, is when you present these people with a "way out" they tell you, Its a scam, it will never work, I don't have time, millions of excuses for them to remain in the comfort of slavery.
The struggle for freedom is a long and hard one, but the rewards once achieved are awesome. its a struggle I am willing to tackle head on.
I am gatvol of people telling me what to do and how to do it. I am gatvol of living the slavers life. I am gatvol of just getting by, I want to get ahead as well.
Just blowing off some STEEM, I love this platform and pray that it will reach and surpass the heights of Facebook, Twitter and the rest!
