Here is a "life challenge" for everyone.  Join a page or a group that focuses on Free Speech.  Go read the vilest threads you can find and desensitize yourself to the bad words.

Learn to read and relate to the intent of the message not the communication skills of the "Speaker"  This "words hurt" thing is tricky because everyone has words and not everyone will use them carefully. Some people are going to say some mean shit from time to time and I personally want anyone I love to be able to consider the source and react accordingly.

I encourage people to be kind, but let's face it... We can only control our reactions. Not what others say.

I was in an Internet argument just the other night and a guy called me the C word. I could have been upset, or let it derail the conversation. Why? Him calling me that had nothing to do with me. It only had to do with him.

I said something in SteemSpeak that offended someone else, what I said had nothing to do with him, unless he applied it to himself.

I am getting really annoyed with society pretending that we should give other people, whom we can't control, the power of upsetting us because they say mean things.

This does not absolve us from being decent, it takes our power back.

Words do not hurt, what you tell yourself about words hurts.

I know this isn't the "Current Thinking".  I refuse to adopt ideas that do not make any sense.
