Holo Everyone!!!✨✨
How are you all?
It's been a while I made Holozing fanart and this I time tried to make another one with the Forest Healer training his creature, Zappity. He's already an all-round damage machine plus a high agility, teaching him some martial art techniques he will be unstoppable!!!
ART PROCESS
I started with a rough sketch then to a cleaner sketch before doing the lineart. I wasn't really adept at drawing creatures or animals that's why it took me a while to figure out the pose and draw Zappity here.
My initial idea is to have a dark background for this art and after scribbling for minutes I got this result. But the difference in the perspectives of background and my characters is making me uncomfortable as I wanted them blend to with each other, I want something that would result to a picture that tell a story.
Since scribbling will take me forever to decide I looked for ideas on Pinterest and found this one. Now it felt like they're training 'til the sun goes down. I used various of texture brushes for the grass & leaves, and use the gradient tool & airbrush for the sky.
I wasn't able to export the background itself but already with the base layer, so here I proceeded in adding the ambient shadow which I color picked from the sky on the background. I then added the light using a an airbrush and erased parts for the shadow with lasso tool.
Here I added the lights that can only be seen on the shadows because it's way weaker than the main source of light, the secondary lights (which came from out of nowhere XD) I supposedly paint it with green or yellowish to reflect the color of the ground but the result is weird so I proceed with the purple secondary light. I then added the occlusion shadows to give it depth and more lights to highlight my character from the background.
Now that I'm satisfied with the general setting I dive into painting the details, no need to overthink and waste time for the tiniest details that isn't really noticeable when zoomed out. I also added their shadows on the ground and foreground grass details so that it doesn't looked like they're floating. I then added and adjusted some details on the background and here is the final result....
