Hey there Hive foodies, I'm back with yet another great dessert place in Chiang Mai - WaanD Old City - หวานยกกำลังดี สามกษัตริย์, and it's all about reviving our senses with some amazing old-school Thai desserts.

Now, I'm sure many of you know this, but for those of you who don't, I'm Thai, born and bred. I love our traditional desserts. These sweet delights, though brimming with nostalgic flavors and memories, can be a tad challenging to find in popular tourist cities like Chiang Mai, unless you make it to the local markets.

Enter places like WaanD Old City.. What I love about these types of establishments is how they take the essence of classic Thai desserts, mix it with a pinch of innovation and present it in a fresh, contemporary manner. It's a perfect balance of authenticity and modernity that appeals to locals and foreign tourists alike.

Now, Chiang Mai isn't a stranger to dessert places marrying traditional sweets with an updated presentation and interior design. However, the beauty lies in how each place manages to retain the essence of Thai desserts in their unique way.

Location-wise, this dessert shop is conveniently situated next to the noodle shop I raved about in my last post.

Step inside WaanD Old City, and you'll be greeted by a minimal yet colorful interior that's as delightful as the desserts they serve. And speaking of the desserts, they're the perfect blend of fanciness, affordability, and not-too-sweet goodnesses! They also got a selection of iced teas and coffees that unfortunately I didn't have a chance to try this time. This combination of factors makes it an ideal spot to take a break from the Chiang Mai heat(it's crazy!).

On my recent visit, I went for a fresh milk with mango and tapioca balls, a simple yet delicious treat. The added touch of Thai scented candles infusing the drink with a unique aroma.. gave me the nostalgia! I also indulged in 'Alure', a Thai dessert that uses sugar, flour and coconut milk. This one they make it a bit special with purple yam too.

WaanD Old City, with its chilled vibe and comfortable seating, is not only a place to escape the heat, but it could also double up as a cozy workspace. Just for a bit though.

What makes this spot truly special to me is how it's spreading the love for old-school Thai desserts to a broader audience. The blend of the old and new, traditional and modern. So if you're in Chiang Mai and find yourself longing for some good ol' Thai sweet treats, you know where to head.

Almost forgot! If you're in Chiang Mai and feel like some great great quality flowers, come visit our newly opened dispensary, The Spot. It's like 10 mins bike ride from this dessert place! :D
