Since 2491

It's now 2565 in Thailand and the shop started 4 generations ago since 2491 (year 1948) so been selling this noodle recipe for already 75 years!!. Nope, not started exactly here but more like a portable baskets they carry on their shoulders walking around and serve people around the area.

I remember, first time I went there was when I was in a university and went to Chachoengsao to visit a friend. He took a few of us to this exact same shop. He bragged pretty good saying how good it was and how long it's been opened. That was already 10 years ago or so...

Recently, I have watch a tv show about food. They went to visit this exact same shop I have visited 10 years ago and was shilling how good the homemade egg noodles, how delicious the tomyum soup and so on so.. I kind of missed that place and wanted to visit.

Homemade egg noodles

I love them homemade. It's also so rare to find a noodle place that would make a noodle themselves. With the fact that they do exactly that +plus how I just saw them in the tv show, I just have to stop by the place on the way I come back from Saraburi to Pattaya. (a little bit of detour but I was hoping it's going to be worth it). 'Nai Ram Noodle Shop'. Quite a way to get there as well so I was really hoping it's gonna be worth the ride.

We order 3 different things. Dry egg noodle, egg noodle soup and satay.

The egg noodle, we can really tell that it's different. You don't really see the egg noodle this color and the texture was good. The dry version was umami because they put some ground peanuts in. The soup though on the other hand, not sure why the soup be so bland. Even I tried to dump shit load of chilis in, still didn't really help. Just realized when we're already home that, god damn, we should have ordered Tomyum! and for that reason, there we go, one reason to re-visit and give their soup another try!

The Satay.. ohhh my.. I love satay in general but not all of them make it the way I like. I love it soft and a little sweet. The peanut dipping sauce shouldn't be too thick nor peanutty (ironically, as it's a peanut sauce!). The pickle cucumbers should have 3 flavors sweet, salty and sour. This shop make all the things I just mentioned really the right flavor at least for my liking so, I would go back any day just for their satay!

Old school - Thai style

It's weird how hot Thailand is but we still love to eat hot stuff (both spicy hot and temperature hot #lol). Bizarre, I know but hey, we love the heat, indeed!

Also just would love to show you the atmosphere of the place. Nothing fancy, just a regular noodle-for-a-quick-lunch place with a few tables, a few staff. No air-con or anything fancy but simplicity and the truly local way. Ngl, this is a type of place I really love to go grab food on my regular days.

I would recommend you find this kind of spot and give it ago when you have a chance to come visit the country and try the real Thai style.
