Today's prompt has taken me to YouTube since I missed my first rugby match. There was a match last month, the 26th of July, hosted at Mombasa Sports club. I wanted to attend it. Get to learn the sport on sight, on the ground. But I came up with the flu. Nothing works well when the flu visits. So I knew I had to better rest it out. Maybe, one day, I will get to see a live match.
However, I learnt a little bit from the few videos I watched. Especially in the Sevens. The fastest rugby sport. Made up of seven players on each side, they played for seven minutes each half. I picked up a few phrases from the commentators, like scrum,..try, where they earned 5 points for each score,.. conversion, where I saw them earn an extra two points.
Honestly, being a football/soccer fan, it was fun watching rugby. But it got me wondering, don't the players feel pain? Especially during tackles? Because with the Sevens, the numbers and impact of collisions I witnessed would leave me incapacitated. I respect all rugby players in the Hive community and the world at large!
