Good day, hivers!
Yesterday was our town's (San Miguel) fiesta. It's a local festival to honor our patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel.
We don't really hold a big celebration at home; every year, we just prepare a few dishes for our family to share. But this year, my mom decided to invite her sisters over for a simple party. My sister chipped in and gave my mom enough money for a few dishes. Since I wasn't expecting any guests myself, I decided to buy a few bilao meals for them to enjoy.
The simple gathering was held at my mom's house. The preparation started early in the morning. My brother always cooks for my mom. He prepared pork estofado (my favorite), chicken cooked with banana trunk core (manok na may ubad), and macaroni salad.
I ordered spaghetti, stir-fried rice noodles (bihon guisado), pork shanghai rolls (lumpiang shanghai na baboy), chicken tenders, potato mojos, and pizza. (The pizza was for my daughter; she had work immersion duties, so she wasn't there).
It was a simple family gathering. A little reminder that no matter how busy we are, we need to make time for a simple family event like this.
My sister and her 2 kids arrived before lunchtime. My aunts and cousins also arrived after. There was a little chit-chat, a little catching up, and then everyone enjoyed the food. The kids loved the potato mojos and chicken tenders. The adults enjoyed the Lumpia.

She was the entertainer for that day.
Here's me, enjoying my bowl of bihon guisado and some lumpia on my trampoline. 馃榿
It was a simple and quiet fiesta, except for the faint sound of karaoke from a neighbor's house nearby.
And before sundown, everyone went home with a take-home.
