馃嚞馃嚙 We were in Ostend with our RV (Recreational Vehicle) at the end of October, you know my post from Middelkerke and from there we go to Ostend. At first we thought the town looked great, with a harbor in the town center and a couple of nice shops lining the route to the beach. The beach is a pleasant stretch of sand, but I'm sure on a sunny day I'd be a delight, although it was contended with rain on our visit. The buildings around the beach are all apartment blocks, some of which have cafes or restaurants at the base. The buildings are not of any architectural interest. There is an odd split between the 7 storey apartment blocks which throws you back to 1900 Ostend but other than that I feel like I'm walking around a residential part of town rather than a tourist beach area. Very bizarre. Downtown has some nice shops and there was a market too. The main attraction I wanted to see nearby Church of St. Peter and PaulWe headed towards Ostend railway station as the building looms tall and stands proud architecturally. But this was pretty run down near. Not sure what to make of Ostend. Not really the jewel in Belgium's crown, which is what I expected.

Sahil 莽evresindeki binalar谋n tamam谋 apartman bloklar谋 olup, baz谋lar谋n谋n alt k谋sm谋nda kafe veya restoran bulunmaktad谋r. Binalar mimari a莽谋dan ilgi 莽ekici de臒ildir. 7 katl谋 apartmanlar aras谋nda garip bir ayr谋m var ve bu sizi 1900 Oostende'ye g枚t眉r眉yor ama bunun d谋艧谋nda kendimi turistik bir plaj alan谋ndan ziyade 艧ehrin bir yerle艧im b枚lgesinde y眉r眉yormu艧 gibi hissediyorum. 脟ok tuhaf. Downtown'da g眉zel d眉kkanlar var ve bir de market vard谋. Yak谋nlarda g枚rmek istedi臒im ana cazibe merkezi St. Peter ve Paul Kilisesi. Bina y眉ksek ve mimari olarak gururlu dururken Ostende tren istasyonuna do臒ru y枚neldik. Ama bu olduk莽a yak谋n t眉kendi. Ostende ne yap谋laca臒谋ndan emin de臒il. Bekledi臒im gibi ger莽ekten Bel莽ika'n谋n tac谋ndaki m眉cevher de臒il.
馃嚞馃嚙 Ostend's promenade is very mixed. Strolling on the promenade and gazing at the sea is a beautiful experience. However, if you look inside, all you see is a massive concrete wall. Most of the apartments and elegant historic buildings from the last century have been replaced by a wish-wash of uninspired modern homes. It's clear that historically this city has never bothered with building restrictions to prevent one side of the promenade from simply turning into a concrete wall of apartments. Tastes vary, but anyone with an aesthetic flair for architecture and urban planning will find it a total disaster.
馃嚬馃嚪 Ostende'nin gezinti yeri 莽ok kar谋艧谋k. Gezinti yerinde gezinmek ve denizi seyretmek g眉zel bir deneyim. Ancak i莽eriye bakarsan谋z tek g枚rd眉臒眉n眉z devasa bir beton duvar. Ge莽en y眉zy谋ldan kalma dairelerin ve zarif tarihi binalar谋n 莽o臒unun yerini, ilhams谋z modern evlerin bir dilek y谋kamas谋 ald谋. Tarihsel olarak bu 艧ehrin, gezinti yolunun bir taraf谋n谋n sadece beton bir apartman duvar谋na d枚n眉艧mesini 枚nlemek i莽in bina k谋s谋tlamalar谋yla asla u臒ra艧mad谋臒谋 a莽谋kt谋r. Zevkler de臒i艧ir, ancak mimari ve 艧ehir planlamas谋 i莽in estetik bir yetene臒e sahip herkes bunu tam bir felaket olarak g枚recektir.
