One of my favorite things that I did as a kid was fly a kite.

I don’t remember who took me to fly my first kite. It could’ve been my dad or an uncle. Whoever it was, thanks because that was the best. I didn’t do any of the hard work to get the kite in the air, all I did as a kid was hang on to the string and watch it sail. Then I’d be forced to share with my brother and cousins. 🙄

On this beautiful day, I decided that it would be a waste not to go to a park. I had also promised to take guthrie@guthrie and his bro to fly kites, so it worked itself out. I drove them to a park that I had visited many times as a young girl. Some areas remained the same, others were brand new. We began to immediately explore.

Further down the path, we spotted a stick fort that several children worked together to build.

I found a wild creature.

After a short walk and run through the playground, we were ready to fly our kites!

guthrie@guthrie’s bro brought along two kites. A petite butterfly kite with long streamers for his little brother and a giant macaw that was gifted to him a year ago. Both kites seemed appropriate for their age/skill level. Gosh they look adorable and I’m glad they had a blast!

Tired and a little disheveled from all the running.
