Been having fun with this app because it worked as a productive substitute to wasting hours with social media. Deepstash has been the first app I paid for a yearly subscription because value wise, I get more out of it than the amount of money and time I spend on something else.
Disclaimer: Just my user experience for the app and I get no paid commission for spreading the word.
The sell:
Instead of doom scrolling or wasting your time watching social media brain rot content, this app fills you with ideas making your time spent on learning new things.
What I Think It Really Is:
A compilation of ideas from several popular books that distills the gist of their lessons into bite sized education fit for those that have short attention span or lack the time to read the actual books.
It highlights the important parts of the book you're interested that's easy to retain in the memory without lengthy read. Each chapter had an estimate of 3-5 minutes and a single book can contain 8-13 chapters on average. It's much faster if you set it to 2x speed.
The cons: It's not really the same as reading the physical book since what you get is the simplified and essential lesson from the chapter but it works as intended if you just want the social media detox.
If you browse tiktok or IG reels, your algorithm may have some dancing cats, AI slop, drama, and some nice facts no one cares about, and you may spend hours wasted scrolling without learning anything. Deepstash fills you in educational content without those distractions. It's not really a substitute for social media if you really intend doom scroll as an end objective.
Is it a good substitute for social media? Sure, if you really are into books but don't have the time to read long chapters. It can't replace long form reading but it serves it's purpose if you want to feel a sense of accomplishment learning more stuff every time to open the app.
Life Update: I'm still fighting.
Thanks for your time.
