In Kulon Progo,Yogyakarta,district, Central Java. Every year an international kite festival is held. The location of the festival is in a rice field that has been harvested. I deliberately Saw the kite festival activities.
I happen to be in Yogyakarta. The distance is about 27 kilometers to the location of the kite festival, reached by car about 50 minute. After arriving at the kite festival location, the vehicle was parked on the side of the road.
Then, I walked to find a location close to the kite festival committee.The atmosphere around was quite busy,along the road was filled with parked vehicles and there were tents selling various goods and there are also traders selling kites.
The 2026 international kite festival was attended by 17 countries such as,India,China, Germany, Lebanon, Malaysia, the United States, France and other countries. The kite festival as I observed, was still in the qualifying rounds.
Several countries are flying kites in various beautiful shapes. Various shapes of kites such as fish,squid, people,beautiful kite shapes. I took some pictures of the kites.
The kite festival is judged by the committee,such as the length of the kite in the air. The beautiful of the kite shape and other assessments. The community watched the kite festival with Joy. Before returning to Yogyakarta, I met with German kite festival participants.
The said they would be staying in Kulon Progo and Yogyakarta for several days during the festival, from the qualifying round to the final round. Good luck.
