I've come to understand the power of a good compliment.
This is very different from a hype. Now here is a little difference, i hope it helps my explanation:
A good compliment and hype differ in their intent, tone, and impact.
Good Compliment
Hype
It takes almost nothing to make someone feel good about themselves. You may not have all the cash on earth but you certainly have good words in your heart.
No one is above being happy and being made happy. Imagine someone saying you made their day just because you told them that they looked good on their clothes.
"Hey Jane, i love this blue shirt, it blends well with your skin tone." Mean every word you say and it will reflect on Jane's face.
Jane will spend time through out that day admiring that blue shirt.
Now here comes the threshold. If the blue shirt is old and worn out. A hype will still tell her that this blie shirt looks good but she will know you sre lying because its worn out but a compliment will go this way:
You can approach this situation with tact and kindness. Here's a possible way to phrase it:
"Hey, I love how you're rocking that blue cloth - the color really suits you! However, I've noticed it's been a while since you've worn it. Maybe it's time to refresh your wardrobe with some new pieces? You deserve to look and feel your best!"
This approach:
By framing it in this way, you can convey your message without sounding rude or critical.
Starting with a compliment will make Jane feel good. But if you start by telling her the cloth is worn out, she will feel not to good about your input even though it's needed.
