On a Friday morning, Richard received a phone call from the delivery man who informed him that his parcel would be delivered around noon that day. Richard was ecstatic upon hearing this because the parcel contained his new cellphone. When he saw the condition of the parcel, however, Richard refused to accept it. The reason for this was because the parcel revealed indications of tampering.

Richard refuses vehemently to sign the delivery receipt, stating that he will submit a complaint regarding the condition of the package. Given that Richard would not budge under any circumstances, the deliveryman had no choice but to depart with the package.
Richard contacted the vendor shortly thereafter to relay what had transpired and his misgivings. Hearing what had transpired, the vendor assured him that he would investigate the matter and that he could anticipate an update soon.

Richard waited one day before hearing from the vendor. According to the vendor, he lodged a complaint with the delivery company responsible for the package's delivery. The dispatch then initiated an investigation and discovered that Richard's suspicions were well-founded.

A company employee apparently took an interest in Richard's package and opened it in secrecy. When the employee saw that it was the most recent model of a renowned cellphone brand, he replaced it with a stone. The delivery company then vowed to return the stolen item or, if that was impossible, pay for it.

Richard was shocked after hearing all of this, and he felt fortunate that he did not accept the delivery that day, as he would have received a stone instead of a mobile. Although he could still submit a complaint, it would be difficult for him to demonstrate that he did not receive the intended item.

Richard was satisfied after receiving a promise from the vendor that he would send the item shortly. Even though the would receive his new mobile at a later date, he would still receive it, and that's what really mattered.
