Good morning, Steemians!
Today, November 5th, 2017, is exactly 4 years from the day I decided to go vegan. I went vegetarian on my birthday when I turned 19, and I'm 28 now. So I've been vegetarian for almost 10 years. I went vegetarian because I watched slaughterhouse videos of pigs and chickens and cows.
I went vegan because of the likes of Dan the Man McDonald (comment below if you know who that is) and Harley Johnstone who goes by DurianRider on YouTube. I don't follow either of these people anymore because they've both gotten away from the reason I originally began watching them.
Dan was interesting because I remember him for his trailer days where he would juice and blend up coconuts and other things and drink them. Durianrider was sarcastic and funny, so I began watching because of that. But it was really their message which made me stick around until about a year or two ago: They spread the message of nonviolence. Not killing animals, because the human body does not need meat like originally thought. I believe that dead flesh of animals actually hurts humans' health, because the flesh putrefies in our long intestines (compared to true carnivore intestines.)

I often wonder if I will forget what meat tastes like. I don't think so, but if I do, who cares? I remember the texture of grilled chicken, burgers, Italian sausage, etc. Now, I did enjoy those foods, but knowing how bad they are for us and how the animals are treated I just choose not to eat them. Life has been pretty good since then and I've only been to the doctor 2 times in those four year (I do a blood analysis each year through my work.)
Right now, I've been trying to eat a lot more raw than I did at the beginning when I went vegan. I just feel better eating raw. I usually start my day with coffee (I will soon be quitting that, don't worry!) and some bananas. Then, throughout the day I make either one or two HUGE salads with a lot of romaine lettuce, beans (not raw, I know) bell peppers, tomatoes, onions on some days, avocados, nutritional yeast, a little bit of Italian dressing, some Himalayan pink sea salt and some black pepper. My salads are out of this world, you can ask my posse.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, Steemians! If interested, give veganism a try!
