Bankhead, Atlanta, Georgia
D and Minerva walk down the street of what was one one of the most crime ridden neighborhoods in Atlanta, but it has been transformed. Nearly half or better of the population had been bought out or forced out of apartments, buildings renovated, and refilled with a private security force. A private security force that surrounded a central building that exists as a server farm for the electronic division of Justice.
Justice is an organization of assassins that “take care” of criminals that slip through the justice system around the world or so the theory goes. In reality, they are a private army for Esmeralda von Krauss. An army of trained assassins.
D and Minerva were dispatched to Bankhead when it was said that Bankhead was burning, an attack by unknown forces. However, as D and Minerva walk through the outer circle of security, they see not even a barrel fire that would have once been alight to keep homeless people warm at night.
D: This is obviously a trap.
Minerva: We knew it would be.
A whistle catches their attention and a girl in a short, clingy red dress and blonde curls walks toward them with a wide grin.
Girl: Fancy meeting you fuckers here. D, Minerva.
D narrows his eyes when looking at the girl in trying to remember if he’s supposed to know who she is. Minerva speaks before he can find the answer though.
Minerva: You seem to have us at a disadvantage, my fouled mouthed friend. You know who we are, but we know not of you.
The girl gives a bit of a curtsy and laughs about it.
Girl: I go by Isabella von Krauss.
D: Esmeralda and Armand don’t have any children. Who are you, really.
Isabella dangles a clutch from her wrist and takes out what appears to be a small coin purse from it.
Isabella von Krauss: When Mommy and Daddy have lost everything that they hold dear, they will have no choice but to accept me as their perfect, darling daughter. We will start with Esmeralda’s favorite Judges.
Isabella pops open the coin purse and dumps it over. A dozen little shadowy figures no larger than an inch tall fall onto the ground. They all get into fighting position.
Isabella von Krauss: Watashi no chīsana ninja no kage o sodatemasu. Sore wa anata ga korera no 2tsu o hikuku oku tokidesu.(Grow my little ninja shadows. It's time you laid these two low.)
The little figures grow into full sized shadow ninjas!
Isabella von Krauss: Kill them.
The shadow ninjas launch their assault and Isabella watches on with wide eyes as the pair in front of her proceeds to take each of them apart. Every time a fatal blow is struck, the ninja dissipates into smoke.
With the last shadow ninja dissipating, D and Minerva advance upon Isabella vin Krauss, looking none too pleased.
Isabella just shrugs with a laugh.
Isabella von Krauss: Seems that everyone was kung fu fighting, except for me.
With a quick movement, Isabella draws a revolver and fires. Minerva pushes D out of the way and is shot in the chest. She falls to the ground. Isabella shrugs and fires again, this time hitting D, and sending him to the ground. She smiles over the wounded warriors.
Isabella von Krauss: Wasted sacrifice. You both die today.
Before Isabella can fire, she hears shouting as the in-home security force comes out en masse from several apartment buildings. She takes aim at D’s head, but changes her mind.
Isabella von Krauss: Another time, perhaps…
Isabella runs from the scene as the first of the security people arrive and get right to helping Minerva and D with their gunshot wounds to bind them for when the ambulances come.
