Come across @Kaerpediem Freewrite with the prompt of baby powder, rule the day, castor oil. So had my attempt at it on Saturday, but as i was working over the weekend only manage to complete it today. Finding picture and editing tooks quite some time...hopefully the pictures appear. So here's the story, hope you enjoy it:
There was a lady by the name of Darling. She was such a hypocrite and lying is her second nature.
Years back she has just broken off with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend noticed that there was just too many thing that was without an answer when they were together. Like suddenly got accused by her parents, and even thing that only both of them knows was leaked. Yet she swears she din't tell a single word. Although she portrays an innocent look, the boyfriend decided he can’t be with her for long term.
Things can be uncertain but there is answer to everything, unless someone lies.
It wasn’t long before her friend introduced her to the next victim. After months together, sensing that this guy is less sensitive than the former boyfriend and totally fall for her naïve outlook (although he did questioned all the unanswered weird thing that happening, but as long as she remain quiet and innocent he would let if off), she decided to tie the guy down. However she does not wish to do so herself.
Thus in order to hint her new boyfriend to married her, she had tell tales to her parent that if they were to get married, the boyfriend would bring her back to his hometown which was in a different state far away from where she was from.
She knows very well that this will agitate her parent and will cause her parent to warn the boyfriend of abducting her far away.
Darling was killing two birds while remaining innocent at the same time. 1. Hinting the boyfriend to marry her 2. after married she is to remain in the happening town area and not his boyfriend's hometown (that she dislike but didn’t wanted to be the nasty one to tell her boyfriend).
Darling borrowed her parent to do the dirty work for her while she pretended that she is also the victim, she has no clue where her parent get this idea from and this got nothing to do with her at all.
Poor her got stuck in between the two devils, that the impression she always creating.
Life with Darling by your side is always either full of event that happen suddenly with no answer found no matter how hard u search for it, or anything and everything that happened is at the request of others be it her parent, sibling, friends, colleagues, or its for benefit of others (how nice of her). She make full use of all the tools she can get holds on, to her own benefit.
If there are any changes in agreed plan, it’s always due to others. If there is anything that she requesting, she would says that its for the benefit of so and so. Or she might even use psychological effect to make you feel guilty.
Life goes on, and they got married and as per her plan the husband din't went back to hometown but settled down in the City instead.
Situation with no answer increased years by years. Darling plays her game well. To get her parent to be her ally, she pretend to be the good daughter pushing all the blame to the husband and anything that she wanted from the husband she pushes the blame to the parent.
Either way she plays the victim role, the one stucked in between, when in fact she was the causes of all the arguments and incidents.
She was also very inconsiderate, spending all her free time chasing movies and drama instead of planning and doing what she ought to be doing, if there is anything that she missed out to brought back to hometown she would not hesitate to ask the husband or to trouble the uncle to brought back the stuff that she had missed out instead of arranging and taking it herself the following week. She went back hometown almost every weekend.
There is one year, she was back in her hometown while the husband was in a rush to complete a project at work. It has been agreed few weeks ago that, they will not be celebrating her birthday this year. Of course, Darling only appears to agree and obliging to her husband request. Just 2 days before the birthday, she called and told her husband that the birthday celebration must go on, as it is at the request of her parent.
Sensing no positive response from the husband, she continue to play her emotion game by sending photo of previous years celebration and said that it is very important to celebrate birthday and how the husband had changed and forgotten her.
Giving in to her request, the husband made a rush trip back after work, cut the cake, eat the dinner, take photo and rush back for next day work again.
One year later due to the movement restriction imposed by the Government to curb the Corona Virus, she was stranded at her hometown and thus was unable to celebrate birthday of her husband.
Her husband assured her that its fine as he don't usually celebrate birthday. Her immediate prompt response was "but i do celebrate" and stop there, Darling realised that she was letting the cat out of the bag. So she quickly changed by saying how sad she was that she din't manage to celebrate this year birthday.
Years passed and they had 2 kids, her investment for old age to be exact. She shower them with lots of baby powder everytime after shower. She just like the powder smell on them.
You would have thought that Darling would had turn on a new leaf and stop all the lies. But no, she has not give up. She continue to live her life the same way, with additional 2 more pawns to use at her mercy-the kids. She had quietly instill in the kids that mummy is the best and daddy is the evil ones, just to ensure that the kids will be taking her side in the future should all her lies be known.
Darling would now use the kids as a tools to get what she desire, especially the eldest son, as she is aware that her husband has a soft spot for the first son. She was getting bored staying at her home town during her maternity and taking care of her kids. Living with her parents means that she has to work from home while at the same time do some house chores (her husband did most of the house chores back at their home) and keeping an eyes on the kids with the help of her parent, while her husband was working at another state.
Few months passed and she can't stand it anymore, although they have discussed that it may be better for the kids to attend the kindergarten at her hometown with the help of her parent, as this maybe the only time for the kids to get closed to the grandparents.
She doesn’t want to be there with 2 kids, house chores and her parents, she just have to think of ways to get back to town. But if voicing it out direct will only shows that she din't actually care for the kids. Not an image she wanted to shows.
Darling finally set up an idea. She told the husband that the 1st son doesn’t like to go to the kindergarten at the hometown, for some reason he keep crying and winning not to go to school, the school may not be feeding the son well and all sort of other problems. So she told her husband that no choice but have to bring 1st son back to town. She had arrange to view and register for a school back in town. Apparently, the son din't cry at all, all peaceful and no problem at all in this new school. Would you believe her?
Months later through a class project, the husband notice that the class have certain decoration that she claimed her son to be scare off previously. The husband quoted "There is so much of that decoration" Darling answered "yarh" and senses that her lies has been noticed but pretended nothing.
Months passes, due to the pandemic, she was again back to hometown and had decided not to sent the kid to school until later of the year.
Since they need to cancel the school, she pretended to ask her husband how should they proceed? Should they cancel and find new school or? She then pretentiously mentions that if continue, the school do have a lot of the elements that the son is scare off... Just to cover her track of lying in the first place. The long waited chance to turn around her lies finally arrived.
Darling is so good at this, she will always lie whenever she can and when the lies got discovered she will find opportunity to mend it back - as if it got nothing to do with her at all.
Her real intention back then was just to skip the chores and back to town, the crying kid refusing to go to school is just a reason she comes up with. Now that it was discovered, she has to find way to cover it, and Covid-19 has given her the chance.
Sensing that her statement was not convincing enough, she throws tantrum at her husband and claiming that she had done everything on her own (when in fact she does not have to cook, house chores was mostly done by her parent, utilities and all are non of her responsibilities, not even groceries, and not a single cents that she need to fork out) and accusing the husband of not doing his part.
To make sure that she get what she wanted, she also come up with a story that her company no longer allows distance working, so she got no choice but to leave the kids with her parents and back to town soon. She knows very well that her husband will never find out of her company's policy.
And of course in order to support her story above and to shows that she has been busy and has been in a difficult position back at hometown, you guess it right! string of unfavorable events occurs. Magically she will start complaining that her parents has been scolding the kids (yes! you guess it right again- it definitely would be the elder son), that her parent has not been cooperative, that her parent has been complaining or how the kids are having nightmare or have been crying or even sick. All sorts of trails of unfortunate events will slowly follows until she get what she wanted.
The love blinded husband then in order to appease her and her claimed hard work, bought her a castor oil lotion which the pharmacist told him is good for the skin.
Seeing that she once again gain her husband's trust and love, she knows that she had once again rule the day. With additional pawns within her use, there is no way that her husband will manage to find out her lies.
Moreover she had planted the seed of trust in all her pawns be it her kids, parents, sibling, friend or etc, that she the one that put in the effort, suffering, tolerating and trying to keep everything in place.
Anything and everything that went wrong is due to others definitely not cause by her.
You would wonder that:
How could anyone not realise that: when there is no answer to a string of event over the years with the same person, it would meant that someone has not being telling the truth?
Why would the husband again and again fall for her lies?
Beats me, maybe she has been feeding the husband with potion of clouding truth.
