—Déjalo, no vas a poder verme, solo puedes escucharme.

No one even knew what was going on in Esther's head. They looked at her with skepticism when she explained her condition because she said that she was being warned by an intangible and affable being. The doctors could not tolerate it any longer and decided to confine her to an isolated psychiatric ward.

Esther demanded clemency. Her pleading eyes did not even move her family; they saw her as a sick person with an uncontrolled imagination. Earlier, long before her supposed ailment began to accompany her, she was frustrated and depressed.

Ester was a famous writer on the rise. Her first novel elevated her to the highest strata of artistic recognition. At only nineteen, she won major awards and met renowned personalities. Although she did not like the attention so much; being an introverted girl, she liked to stroll among the halls of fame holding hands with other artists.

Her first work was a success, but she needed more; her fans clamored for a sequel or another book with a different story, but inspiration had drained and dried up on the floor, leaving her alone with her cigarettes and the cold of her room.

One day, as she read the magazines that talked about her and why she hadn't announced her next installment, she smoked a cigarette in front of her bedroom window with stress. She brushed her hair vigorously as a way to think. Suddenly, she felt an unusual presence on her neck; it was like a breath slowly creeping in.

-Ester, -She heard her name, the young woman thought it was stress.

-I want to help you, but I need you to help me, -said the mysterious voice. Ester, frightened, looked in all directions trying to find the source.

-You won't be able to see me, you can only hear me.

-Who are you?! What do you want?! -Ester demanded desperately.

My name is Guillermo Alberto Salinas, in life, I was a young lawyer for twenty-two years old to open my law firm, but my wealthy family had problems with very bad people and I ended up paying the consequences with my death. I come to you, Ester because you are the only one who for some reason can hear me and feel me. I need you to please tell me what happened to me in your next novel.

Ester, still dumbfounded, didn't know what to answer, but after a few seconds of analyzing everything, her mouth began to emit words.

-This... this can't be happening," the young woman stammered, "You must be a delirium from my stress!

-I repeat, no, Ester, please listen to me; I am as real as you or everything material around you. Feel me -Guillermo runs his hand over the young woman's right forearm.

-For God's sake, you are real! -She exclaimed with a shudder in her throat.

-That's right, Ester, please don't be afraid of me, I just want us to help each other. I will have my story published and many people will read it, and you will have an idea for your next book; which has been leaving you with a lot of stress.

The young writer thought for a few seconds.

-And what happens when you get what you want? -Ester asked.

-Well, I guess I'll go away and leave you alone forever. Do you agree to our deal?

The girl, adopting a calmer attitude, nodded her head and then took the last sip of her cigarette.

-Well, we can start right now, if you want," suggested the ghost.

Ester, immediately, put everything aside; her thoughts, her hardships, and the letters from her manager, who was asking her for an answer for the publishing house. Everything became irrelevant to her, except listening to Guillermo's voice.

She typed every word with speed, day and night, her eyes focused on the keys. Her manager watched her work one day and was content. The publisher began to make preparations for the first announcement of Ester's new novel.

The title of the story shocked some; those who recognized from the synopsis more or less what the work was about. A controversy arose and people began to wonder if the writer was doing a fiction or non-fiction novel. Ester declared that it would be the latter, leaving people with their eyes wide open.

More and more readers began to investigate the subject: a young lawyer murdered at the foot of the Public Prosecutor's Office was a popular news item. When the media asked the author where she got the information about that fact, Ester carelessly answered: "It is a voice that speaks to me".

The scandal and the author's attitude caused more intrigue among readers, who tried to find out the real source of Ester's ideas. Meanwhile, the writer was at her desk concentrating. There were events in William's life that moved her and she felt empathy for the ghost.

During the weeks that the novel was in the making, Ester and Guillermo formed a strong bond, until finally a first manuscript was completed. The novel was edited, published, and sold in every bookstore in the country. This fact attracted the attention even of the police, who knocked several times at the door of Ester's house to talk to her.

-Ignore them, -she asserted, "all the information is true, but they don't want to admit it just to protect those who did this to me.

-I feel I'm in big trouble, -she asserted, lighting a cigarette. I didn't know your case was so famous, people went crazy as soon as they read the synopsis. Tell me, Guillermo, what are we going to do?

-Ester, I promised to help you and that's what I'm going to do. I have not left for the same reason.

Days went by and Ester's situation was gradually improving. Guillermo's case was reopened by people who believed in the same assumptions told in the story, but people close to the writer, doubted her sanity because they assured her they had heard her talking to herself.

It was then that doctors intervened to lock her up. Ester was isolated in a psychiatric hospital, but a week later she was released because she showed no symptoms of dementia. During that time, she did not hear Guillermo again, as she went to rest in peace knowing that the culprits of her death had been brought to justice.
