Calling somebody a hater, Statist, Nazi, fascist, libtard, bigot, misogynist, homophobe, transphobe, Islamaphobe or any other derogatory label is an easy way to discredit somebody and silence their viewpoint without having to analyze their argument, consider their reasoning, or put forth a well thought out reasoned response. It's a subjective way to win an objective discussion, and is therefore what is called a "logical fallacy", and particularly, an "ad hominem" fallacy. It's a manipulative technique used by lazy thinkers who realize they are unable to formulate a logical response to back up their opinion, and also by skilled manipulators with something to gain from silencing reasoned dissent.
"Ad hominem, short for argumentum ad hominem, is a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.
