I once told a friend of mine I'm going to smoke a little tonight and she looked at me very disapproving and went on to say I shouldn't be smoking, that it is a harmful dangerous habit and I'm killing myself.
I told her she is killing herself too and living a very dangerous life. She asked how and I told her that by not exercising regularly she was living dangerously. She argued that she wasn't doing anything to her body by not exercising but I was by smoking. I had to present the argument plainly to her that omission was as bad as commission, or even if it wasn't it at least still did as much damage.
I also had to show her this video of this old preventive medicine doctor preaching the gospel about exercising:

The doctor said exercising is so important that a person who is overweight, who smokes, who has hypertension, who has bad cholesterol but exercises would live longer than a person who doesn't have any of these things but doesn't exercise.
Hard hitting stuff.
If this is how effective exercising is then keeping it away from your body is definitely dangerous living, because exercising is within reach of everyone.
But a lot of people talk about dangerous living when they hear you're about to smoke or drink alcohol or eat something sugary or junky, they're usually so quick to dish out advice at times like these, but they don't spare consideration for their own dangerous lifestyle of not working out.
Recently I've been trying to make it a duty to explain this to people who seem to care about their health by being against all these habits but they don't work out. You can't be serious about your health without working out.
Don't get me wrong, avoiding smoking, drinking, and processed food is all good and I'm also someone who advocates for little to moderate exposure to these things, but the point really has to be made that engaging in them is as dangerous as a life of not working out, and a person who doesn't work out calling out these things is like a pot calling a kettle black 🙂.
