A mellow day resting next to quiet Palmer Lake as I get ready for the early start of the 24 hours ultra tomorrow morning.
I didn't have a great night sleep last night but I should be better tonight (except for the occasional freight trains that will rumble by on the nearby tracks.
Right now I'm watching a cross country meet going on along the path around the lake that we'll be circling all day tomorrow. The sky has been overcast all day with a few light sprinkles here and there, I just hope it's cool and cloudy again tomorrow.
My activity was simply hiking a few times around the lake taking in the local scenery and the fresher air up at a little over 7000 feet altitude - fortunately I'll be power walking much of this race so the altitude shouldn't be a factor.
Just a few damp spots so the path will be nice and smooth and perfect for a lot of miles.
My gear is set aside and I'll put out my table nearby next to the trail to minimize extra steps to grab anything I might need.
