It was a wet day for a run and hike but there milder autumn weather is making for much nicer running as I look ahead to resuming ultramarathon races.
I stuck to the road around the nearby university as the rain began to fall and I didn't want to risk a slip and fall on the muddy trails this close to my upcoming ultra. My legs are really feeling good the past few days and longer runs are getting easier - a hopeful sign.
I ended up with a relatively faster 5 and a half miles and I'm looking forward to Palmer Lake more and more.
Treated Lulu to a couple of miles up in the canyon on a wet and rainy hike out to Roughlock Falls.
The trail was muddy and slick in a few spots but overall (and despite the rain) it was beautiful with the changes in foliage and the natural beauty of Spearfish Canyon to enjoy.
