It is a great white shark, one of the many predators of the swimming summit in the ocean. This one is pretty cute, despite his muscular one-ton body and rows of sharp sawtooth teeth that can turn a human into a shredded mozzarella bag in less than a minute.

This is called "The White Shark Cafe" and it is an area in the Pacific Ocean, where otherwise the great coastal whites spend their winter and spring. What makes it so interesting is that it is essentially the equivalent of a desert ocean and no one really knows why so many great whites are attracted to it for part of the year. There has been a lot of speculation over the years as to what they are doing there (I think NATO Shark), but very soon we will have a better understanding of what these toothy bastards are doing in this godforsaken patch Thank you ocean to these:

Say hello to Saildrone! It's part of a fleet of orange machines, wind and solar powered, GPS-guided badass currently roaming the world's oceans. Equipped with fancy sensors and other scientific equipment that I do not understand, these baby bundles return real-time data and satellite images and will be used for a multitude of ecological missions, in addition to giving us more information about the secret and perhaps shady and / or political relations of these massive aquatic killing machines.
