Hey steemers! Tonight I'm bringing you another Wild Youth illustration. This character's called "Snapper."
Snapper is a midsize, marsupial-ish monster that lives in dry desert climates. Its tail is roughly the same length as its body and capable of injecting poison via barbs at the tip. If it is protecting itself, a large snapper can bite down with over 1,400 pounds of pressure, snapping its attacker in half! They are capable hopping up to 45mph while pursuing prey, and can jump up to 8ft in the air.
Female snapper's have yellow skin with brown feathers and male's have red skin, brown feathers. Both have horns and sharp serrated teeth.
Snapper's are easily spooked, and very protective of their prey. This illustration depicts a hunter who has wandered into a females nesting area. What's going to happen next?

Once I have a general idea of what the character is going to look like, I explore the design until I feel comfortable enough with it to begin a bigger illustration:
