A few days ago I celebrated my twenty-fifth birthday. I was happy because i had looked forward to the day, This made me reflect on things I had always wished I had before. Not that I have every one of them now, but I am just kind of content with how things have turned out in the past year.

A few years ago, I had always complained about my weight, Every time i looked in the mirror, I wasn't happy with how I looked, I know it's normal for someone who has gone through childbirth to add weight and all that, but I had this dislike for the way I looked, , sometimes I always complained to my husband.

ME:"Babe the way I am looking I don't like it, I always look older than my age,and even when I am around my age mates, they always want to use honorifics for me, and i dont like it"

And every single time I came up with this complaint, I always got the same response from him.

HIM: "Who told you ,you were fat? you look absolutely perfect to me and who soever tells you dont look alright should go find themselves another hobby, because to me you look so good in what ever weight you decide to put on, hmm so stop giving your self headache over this kind of things"

And with his responses, I always thought maybe I didn't look as bad as I had thought of myself, but still, I had this goal of getting fit and staying at the right weight so people wouldn't mistake me for a thirty-something year old lady, so I started in my little way. I started eating healthy, and sometimes I skipped meals just so I could achieve my desired body weight.

I remember one time I asked my younger sister to coach me on exercise, but after two weeks I couldn't lift my hands and legs. Funny, right? But I was still eager to cut off some fat.

MY SISTER: It really not really exercising but you have to continue if you want to really achieve your goals, you know "NO PAIN NO GAIN"

I had thought of this particular word she said but the execising was too hard to keep up, so i resulted to taking walks only, which also helped

And also, because I started school, the stress from school also helped to bring down some of the fat, because I would have to trek some distance after getting down from my school bus stop to get to class, This really helped in a way. I started getting that confidence in myself back again when i noticed my efforts were showing and I could fit into clothes I had stopped wearing initially.

Looking at my pictures that I took for my birthday, I was happy within me, not only was I looking healthier, but I also had this confidence in my face. While I was staring at the pictures, I mentally gave myself a pat on the back for a job well done.
