I am not sure about many things in life, but I know for sure that I wouldn't stand eating the same thing forever no matter how delicious it may be.
Another thing I know is that without breakfast I can't leave the house, I feel weak and hypotonic. I am addicted to breakfast and I even remember that as a kid I felt dizzy after a while if I hadn't had my breakfast first. Not that we were allowed as kids to skip breakfast in my family, and I am grateful for this lifetime habit. Now, I have learnt that this happens mainly because the blood sugar levels drop and the cortisol levels increase if the body starts the day without a preparation. For me it is pretty obvious as my body sends obvious signals. I guess it's not that hard for all people, but it is a good habit to have.
So, when Ladies of Hive ask in this week's contest:
Our bodies require nourishment to thrive and we enjoy the taste of food. Keeping that in mind, if you had to choose just one food to eat for the rest of your life, what food would that be and why?
the first thing I wish for is never anyone to be forced to eat one food only for ever and then I thought of sharing my breakfast routine that I follow faithfully for several years now.
Depending on the season the fruits vary, but right now, this is it.
3 tablespoons of oat. Usually just like this. Rarely soaked in my morning herbal tea, but I am not a fan of soaked oat :)
One chopped banana. A great booster.
My beloved sesame paste. I just love it! 3 big tablespoons, sometimes even more! I know that this is too much for many people, but for me works perfectly, especially if what follows is a demanding farming day. Don't think of the calories, think of the protein and the goodies that come with tahini!
Blueberries. Fresh or frozen. This time of year, we only have frozen ones and we try hard to remember every night to take some in a vase and put it in the fridge to slowly defrost until the following morning. I can't say enough about blueberries. I started eating them daily when I was trying to balance my immune system that was totally confused due to an autoimmune disease and I was trying to built a strong immune system without triggering the whole system if you know what I mean. Super antioxidant and many more!
Moringa. It has it all, or almost all. Vitamins, minerals, iron, protein, calcium and more.
I have to admit that I use a bit less in my breakfast, but I was focused on the shooting and exaggerated a bit. But look at this color! Everything became more interesting.
And some cacao. Although I usually drink a cup of cacao about 2 hours after having breakfast, sometimes I really need it first thing in the morning.
Then some more cacao and after that cinnamon! Tasty, aromatic, magic cinnamon!
For the end Chia seeds, rich in nutrients, antioxidants, omega-3, and in general a small but powerful seed. Plus I like the look and the feeling in every bite.
Raw honey is a must if you like sweet things. I didn't add here because with the banana it is already sweet enough for me, but if it was just blueberries I would definitely add some local thyme honey.
Then you mix, but then it's not so pretty anymore :)
I would like to thank my shooting assistant @fotostef for adding patiently all the ingredients and being my hand model. The shooting took place before the breakfast and that was NOT easy at all!
@buckaroobaby, I think of you anytime I add moringa after that amazing chocolate recipe that you posted!
If you would like to know more about me this is my introduction post!
