Walk with me
Yesterday I was on a trip to pick up a car in another town a few hours drive away. Instead of taking the main highway I short cutted through the bush and took a path less traveled. Picking up the car from an empty house as the man who owns the car is dying in hospital and I'm taking the car to give to his grandson. It's very rare to get a photo with me in it as I am usually alone but we drove back together as I had someone drive me over to get the car. Now the funny part is we are only stopped here not to get a picture but because the dog let one go out the rear end on the back seat. image.jpgimage.jpgThankfully the dog was not in the car I was picking up. But this dog is the only dog I ever met who gets car sick. So the drive over was just as bad with three stops to clean the back seat from loose bits coming out the the dogs front end. The best part is that we were traveling through cattle country and the dog hung out the window very ferociously growling barking and scaring the lazy cattle off the road as we travelled. It's the first time I ever got a free pass down this road. The area I'm in is called Many Peaks and from these pics I'm sure you can tell why. A very beautiful area not many people get the chance to see as it's not where the sheep travel. This is cattle country. I'm writing this to suggest to people that these back roads exist all over AUSTRALIA and instead of taking the road where the sheep roam take another path and see what you are really missing. There were many beautiful streams and sights along the way and the road is never boring. You don't need four wheel drive for these roads. I came through in a VT COMMODOOR lowered sports car. It handled the dirt roads like a dream. Never once felt dangerous even when I started playing a bit and sliding it around a little. My advice if you take these roads is be safe slow down and enjoy the breath taking view. It's not a race and could be a while before help comes if you have an accident. Be aware many times I was without phone service most of the way. So take plenty of water just incase you break down and end up waiting for someone to come along. But I will say that you should and can rely on and trust just how safe you really are out there because if you do break down. Someone will always stop to check on you and help you out if anything does go wrong. Way quicker than the city break down service where not one person stops to check on you. The next person coming down that road will do whatever it takes to make sure you are safe. That's just the rules in the bush and them rules will never change out here.
