Heading out of the city today. My wife has booked two nights in a wine country town to celebrate my 70th birthday tomorrow. Hope to be able to ride my bicycle. We left a little late and had a slow drive as the main road over the mountains is closed for flood repairs
First stop in apple country in Bilpin just where the mountains begin. Shot down from the cider farm over the apple orchards (under the netting)
Grand trees there too. Slow drove on a winding 80 kmh road. Busy in the interchange town - Lithgow. The currently closed highway bypasses the town. We had to drive through it
We are staying in Mudgee - walking distance from the town centre. It is a farming town and a wine town. Old cottage over the road on our walk to town

We did an essentials shop to round out our Peking Duck dinner. Then popped into a local brewery pub for a drink. Chatted to the local dog owners - a dog friendly bar.
I had home grown beer and my wife had a gin taster - 3 gins. Two came from the next big town down the road - Bathurst
Short wall back to the villa. Easy prep for Peking Duck dinner and for me a.late night doing options expiry stuff. Had to be done Thursdsy as US markets are closed for Juneteenth holiday- tomorrow
