During my quick visit at Bandung Indonesia, I actually not planning to find burger or western food because normally when I travel Indonesia, I want eat local food more. But that night I was staying around Dafam Hotel Bandung and just walking around near my hotel looking something easy to eat. Then I saw this very colorful burger truck and immediately it catch my attention.
The place is Brother Jonn & Sons, and the design of the truck honestly very nice. At night all the round number light on top make the stall look more interesting, and the whole truck full with funny colourful cartoon drawing. It don't really feel like normal roadside burger stall. More like small American style burger truck but located in Bandung street.
Since it was near my hotel, I decide just give it a try.
When I look at the menu, first thing I realise is this burger actually not cheap. There is many different burger choice from normal cheese burger until bigger one. I end up choosing the 1984 Cheese Burger Big Size because if already try, better take something more serious hahaha.
I forgot exactly what expectation I have, but when seeing the price around Rp78,000, I thinking this is quite expensive already for one street burger in Indonesia. Especially when Bandung got so many local food that can make you very full with much lower price.
After ordering, they give me the burger wrapped inside this blue silver aluminium paper. At first it look very compact, almost I thinking, βthis is the big size ka?β π
But once open it, okay, this burger actually quite heavy.
When I bite it, the flavour is quite strong. Cheese is very obvious, the beef feel juicy and greasy, and there is plenty sauce inside. It is the type of burger where after few bite your hand already messy. Definitely not burger you eating nicely with fork and knife.
For taste, I can say it was good, especially if you like cheesy and heavy burger. The meat portion also not small. But I still keep thinking about the price while eating it hahaha.
For almost Rp80k, in Bandung you can eat quite lot of other things already. So for value, I cannot say this is cheap or must-try bargain. This more like something you try because you happen to be nearby, curious with the food truck, or suddenly craving for western burger.
I was only having a quick visit in Indonesia, so this random burger stop actually become one of those unexpected small travel memory. Nothing luxury, nothing planned, just walking outside hotel at night, see colourful burger truck, then spend more money than expected on one messy burger.
Would I eat again? Maybe yes if I really craving burger.
Would I say it cheap? Definitely no π
But sometime travelling is also about trying random things that you never plan. This was one of it.
