It rained all last night, and some of this morning. Fortunately the sun came out about an hour before lunch, so I went for a walk down the road that leads out of the canyon. Along the way I could hear the sound of movement, but wasn’t sure if it was the river, or just wind blowing through the trees, so I went to investigate. It turned out to be the river, which had risen a bit. Mingus mountain is what separates the Clarkdale/Cottonwood area from Prescott (the original capital of the state). Here you can see that the top of it is enclosed in the breaking cloud cover.
