Through Everything
by Tim Liwanag
Uh, you pushed me away
but I will smile and move on
because I won't let you, in any way,
hurt me one more time
through memories tainted by lies
like a recurring nightmare
— an airless dungeon
that would choke me 'til I die.
Aw, it's not really yours to say
what's my best, what's my worst
because I won't be a victim
of your friggin' devious words!
So I'm not going to be chained
by your chronic worries or empty promises
— persistent delusions
that are...eh...um... forgotten
like intruding filled pauses.
Never will I wait for your sorry,
for I'm already the writer of my story. ■
