This weekend (Saturday) my grandson was discharged after 15 days in intensive care in neonatal services at Clínica La Floresta, in Aragua State/Venezuela.
He was released but with the condition of hiring a nurse to provide him with intravenous treatment for one more week, and we are doing so.
On Sunday the nurse came and gave him his IV treatment, bathed him, massaged cream all over his body and dressed him, he looked very handsome (she will do this every day for a week).
The baby is not allowed visitors and immediate family members who are with the baby must wear mouth covers at all times.
So we agreed to make a soup of ribs and beef legs, to spend the weekend quietly and without leaving the house with our beloved newborn.
The paternal grandmother was the protagonist of this soup, helped by the girl who works with her. First they put the legs in a pressure cooker, while in a big pot in the backyard of the house they put the ribs, when everything was soft they put them together in the pot and added the seasonings previously sautéed and the vegetables. Finally, the lady added a lot of chopped cilantro, which gives it an exquisite taste.
While the soup was being made, we all kept an eye on the baby, his mother feeding him with the cloth whenever he needed it.
I also prepared a vanilla cake with orange zest for the afternoon snack.
When the soup was ready we ate on the patio of the house, on a small plastic table that they hardly use, they had it stored in the warehouse.
We sat down to have a coffee in the living room and suddenly we received a call from the sister of my grandson's paternal grandmother, who told her that she was going out to the house with her husband and her two children to meet the baby.
It was explained to her that it was not wise and that the child was forbidden to visit, since he was not completely healthy. That lady threw a tantrum, insulted her sister and said that she would not go any other day to meet the baby. The grandmother became very sad.
We had an unpleasant time, hoping that people would understand that we are not doing it for anything bad, but for the baby's well being, since he is not completely well, he still needs to be taken care of and finish his treatment, and then return to his pediatrician to get his vaccinations, and when the doctor authorizes it, he will be able to receive visits from anyone who wants to meet him.
So far, a brief summary of my weekend friends, as you can see we are still shaken by what happened, but with God's help everything will be fine. I bid you farewell wishing you lots of positive energy. Thank you for reading my post.
