Exploring a new area for tapas

As we're looking to move in the direction of the next town and specifically the newer part of it, we thought it might be nice to head to that area for tapas and see if we enjoy them over there. Now I have to say that until now, we have not been that impressed by tapas in that town but then again, we haven't been trying many tapa restaurants either as most of our dining moments were actually dinners instead of tapas.

Parking

We had a hard time parking near the restaurants but that was because there was an event in the auditorium so the streets were packed with these visitors who were all waiting in line outside the building. We walked through the most crowded street with restaurants first where we were either not impressed immediately or couldn't sit because there were no free tables. We were all hungry so waiting for one to clear wasn't optional, we wanted food and we wanted it an hour ago, lol.

Looking further

I noticed the rest was a bit further walking so I usually head to maps in these cases to see which direction will give us the best chance to find something where we want to sit. We must not forget how difficult our daughter is with food and we aren't really looking to sit somewhere if they don't have anything she likes, it will only ruin our time sitting there with an annoyed child (and later annoyed us, haha).

New place, let's go!

I found a fairly new place on the other side of the street and the pictures on Google looked fine so we went there. Upon arrival, most tables inside were reserved, and some were taken. We could only sit in the back of the restaurant and within 30 minutes every table was empty so the ambiance was not there at all sitting all the way in the back. The waiters were nice though, and we saw that we had a free tapa with a drink (which is not always the case). In reality, it meant that my boyfriend had a free tapa, not us as we bought a big bottle of water and with free tapas, water doesn't count.

QR ordering

Something that I really appreciate is the many restaurants that offer QR codes to order your own tapas, it's very time efficient as the waiters only take your first drink order, and the rest you can do yourself until you want the bill, which you also order in the app. The waiter will then come to give you the bill so you can pay. I quickly found out that the tapa section only had a few tapas we considered ordering and there was only one thing qualifying for my daughter: homemade french fries. Too bad, but she had to deal with it because we were hungry and needed something.

Two tapa rounds only

Where we love having tapas and sitting somewhere throughout the evening, this time we only ordered two rounds of tapas. I tried the spring roll (not bad but not great either), ensaladilla Rusa (Russian salad) which was quite nice, and french fries (not in the picture). My daughter only had french fries and stole bread from her father's tapa meat in tomato sauce (carne en tomate / carne en salsa) and my boyfriend had a second tapa which was called a taco but I forgot the rest, it was nice though, I took a bite to taste it. You never know if you come back in the future or see it on the menu somewhere else, right?

Conclusion

No ambiance, not enough choice on the menu but very cheap! We only paid 16 euros for the food and drinks together so we couldn't complain much. Too bad the evening came with the attitude of our daughter, which made it less enjoyable to be out and about. I don't think we'd come back here unless they broaden the menu because I can see by their presentation that the place has potential. Sometimes these places don't have everything on the menu because it's too early or because it's a weekday. So I'll not fully exclude it forever, haha.

Thanks for stopping by!
