A few random photos from a sunny Fall Friday afternoon. It is 54F but a cold wind is blowing. Looks pretty but its the kind of day where its cold in the shadows.
I started with a few photos of leaves still on the trees. The first photo was a Maple. This yellow leaf is a Beech tree.
This is a cluster of Oak leaves. Throw in the White Pine and Walnut trees and that is much of the local forest. Ash trees are still common but have been really reduced by the Emerald Ash Borer.
I like this view of the tree line against the brilliant blue sky.
This section of the woods is almost all Beech and White Pine. There are also some Aspen and Birch trees mixed in but they have already dropped their leaves.
This is the tree line on the other side. The western side with the afternoon sun getting lower in the sky. The lighting was really pretty but I struggled to capture that in my photo.
The final shot is the eastern tree line again in the bright afternoon sun. The bright light is a little harsh on the colors. The browns and yellows in this shot become more of a golden hue in the softer light later in the day.
