A mystery box arrived at my house, and what do I think is in it?
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this writing idea was—what if the mystery box has the power to give me anything I want, including money? Or what if it has the ability to solve any problem I lay my hands on? With these two possibilities, I believe my life and that of the people around me would become smooth, fine, and void of issues.
So, let me take it that way, a mystery box with the power to solve any problem and also provide me with as much money as I desire has landed at my house. I would secure it with my life, keeping its existence absolutely private because I wouldn’t want people pressuring me once they discover I can solve any problem. Additionally, I wouldn’t want to be robbed at night by those who would try to take the mystery box for themselves.
First of all, I would travel to a faraway land and stay there for about three to four months before returning to my city of residence with enough money to establish gigantic businesses. The reason for traveling is to reduce suspicion, people wouldn’t start questioning how I suddenly became wealthy while living in the same city and doing the same work they’ve always known me for.
After returning, I would establish large businesses using the excess money I invoke from the mystery box. I would get the businesses running with employed staff. This would also extend to my family members—I would set up businesses for them so they could earn money independently.
Now, when it comes to solving people’s problems, considering the current state of Nigeria, the most effective way to help anyone is by giving them enough money. As it stands, money answers all things; it is a source of living and a source of happiness. However, I would give out money in moderate amounts to avoid attracting unnecessary attention or putting myself at risk. I would make it appear as if I were a 'yahoo guy,' which is a common trend in Nigeria and widely accepted. This way, people wouldn’t have any reason to question my source of income.
I wouldn’t distribute money recklessly as if it were limitless, no, I would apply caution. I would provide financial assistance to help people settle their bills and, most importantly, encourage them to start businesses because, right now, running a business is the best survival strategy in Nigeria.
Beyond that, I would visit hospitals and pay patients’ medical bills.
In all of this, I would make a conscious effort not to appear excessively rich by driving luxury cars. Instead, I would get a simple yet comfortable car, and that would be enough for me.
If there’s an expiry date for the mystery box, whether it returns to where it came from or stops working, I would do everything possible to maximize its use before it vanishes. And I hope that the businesses I establish and the help I provide don’t disappear along with it.
