Social media has connected us and also made us insensitive and plain scary. I cant tell you how many friends I have made and lost on facebook. Or how many times I have set up KIK on my phone to chat with a group (spiritual exploring groups) and experience some very scary individuals.

Have these social media technologies flowed into daily life? My daughter tells me most people live in the social media world. They live on the net. In school, the teacher teaches and all the kids are on their phones. She tells me when they go to a party, it's just all the girls sitting around on their phones. Sometimes no music is playing. I wonder if they are all reading Rumi poems? eh eh eh

I am finding more people are just plain rude today. Driving like maniacs on the road texting as they drive. Their ability to be nice and "let someone in" is a lost art. I had a truck behind me in traffic yesterday revving his engine and being impatient. We were all stuck in the same traffic. He apparently was mad he had to wait a few moments.

With social media, if you don't like someone you block them, delete them. In the real world you cant, so when people are raised to deal with feelings by just erasing the problem, deleting the person, then they explode not knowing how to deal with their own emotions.

When I was younger, there was always a Shawn Whitehead character. This is the girl up the street that is just annoying. We dealt with her daily, played with her, talked about our emotions together after she left. We also worked with it all through interaction, play and physically seeing and experiencing each other, as she did with us. A learning of this human vessel was happening through play and personal interaction.

Today... just delete, delete and delete

I go to a concert and see 500 cell phones in front of me. I go to a store and see people everywhere walking and staring at their palms.

We have been duped!! Whoever came up with this one has created a huge monster. We have morphed into another dimension, and its not good. We are missing LIfe. Missing art, and unaware of the soul.

Social media studies have indicated that it is more addicted than cigarettes and alcohol. It's affecting the emotions of young teenagers greatly also.

Try this... wake up tomorrow morning and don't look at your cell phone at all. Or go to an event without it. Or just try going to the food store and leave it in the car. Can you do this?? Try it and see what you experience.
