🌟 Hello, beautiful #Freewriters community!

Today, I feel deeply grateful to be able to share these lines with you. Endless thanks to the lovely mariannewest@mariannewest for planting words that bloom day after day, and to daily.prompt@daily.prompt for reminding us that even a single word can open inner doors we didn’t know were closed.

In this deeply human and creative space, where every voice echoes in its own way, I dare to bare a little piece of my soul and speak about something we’ve all felt at some point: emotional dependence.

Thank you for being here reading, feeling, accompanying. Because even though we sometimes write in solitude… we’re never truly alone. 🤝

🔒 I. An invisible rope.

There was a time in my life when I believed that needing someone was the same as loving. I walked every day with an invisible rope tied to my chest, hoping someone else would hold it so I wouldn’t fall. That need to be accepted, to feel loved, to not be left behind, slowly turned me into a prisoner of my own emotional lacks. I couldn’t see it, of course. I disguised it as loyalty, as commitment even as sacrifice. But the truth is, there was a voice inside me that whispered that without that “someone,” I wasn’t enough. And as that dependence grew, my self-esteem shrank like a flower without sunlight.💪

🪞 II. The false safety of the familiar.

The strangest part is that, despite everything, I felt fine. I told myself it was normal, that we all depend on someone, that there was nothing wrong with that. But deep down, I felt empty. I second-guessed every decision, doubted every step, filtered every opinion out of fear. I had lost my center. Even the things I used to enjoy didn’t taste the same anymore I was doing them more out of habit than conviction. I depended on an emotional routine that gave me stability, but not joy. And when I finally dared to look at myself face to face, I realized I had drifted so far from who I was, I could no longer remember who I used to be without that external voice guiding me.

🌱 III. Unlearning to heal.

That’s when the real work began: unlearning. I started to rebuild myself from the small things, from the intimate. I learned to be with myself without feeling lonely, to make decisions without fearing mistakes, to forgive myself for having abandoned my needs so many times. I discovered that independence isn’t a rebellious act it’s an act of self-love. It’s looking at your wounds without hiding them, embracing your insecurities, and learning to live with yourself without needing someone else to complete your story. Each day, I reminded myself that thinking of myself wasn’t selfish—that I deserved to be a priority in my own life. And little by little, what used to bind me… began to let go.

💫 IV. Living from balance.

I won’t lie there are still days when dependence tries to come back, disguised as nostalgia. But I no longer open the door. Now I know that love doesn’t mean dependence, that sharing life doesn’t require giving yourself away completely, and that being there for someone doesn’t mean forgetting yourself. I’ve learned to value healthy relationships the ones where you can breathe freely, say what you truly think, and just be, without fear. And if you’re reading this today and feel something inside of you that also wants to be free, I invite you to start there: by listening to yourself, by embracing who you are, by refusing to settle for crumbs when you deserve a full feast of real love. 🌅

Sometimes we confuse love with need, attachment with commitment, and silence with peace. But there comes a moment when we understand that living dependent on someone else isn’t really living it’s surviving. True freedom isn’t about isolating from the world, but about finding within ourselves the strength to walk without emotional crutches, knowing that who we are light and shadow is already enough.

When we stop depending, we begin to love from a cleaner, calmer, and more honest place. Because the one who chooses to stay without chains… loves for real. 😘

🔒 I. Una cuerda invisible.
