A mentor can save your life. Having a mentor is one step that will guarantee growth and excellence in your life. A mentor makes available to you years and years of experience and insight.
The biggest form of laziness is not finding and following a mentor or role model. A mentor can help you avoid mistakes that would have cost you years otherwise.
Listen. This person that you want to mentor you may not be God, may not be an angel, but that person can save you stress, years, waste, money, regrets, all kinds of stuff.

Now, the relationship between you and your mentor may not be so nice. For example, when you look at the relationship between you and your coursemate, and the one between you and your lecturer, the one between you and your classmate is obviously more endearing and fun.
When you find a great mentor, it is not always comfortable. It is laziness if you don’t have anyone you can call to give you counsel. And if you don’t, you will live life by trial and error. If you live life by trial and error, by the time you get to where you want to be, you will be battered and broken.
The first thing you need in a mentor is to find someone who is successful. Of course, success can be relative. However, if someone is successful, they will easily be able to give you advice. Anyone can mentor you, but let it be a successful person.
No one can give something they don’t have. It would be difficult for someone who has not achieved success to lead you to success.
The second characteristic of your mentor is that the person should be responsible. Now, to be responsible means that you take on a job, a duty, a role. Simply put, it is taking on a problem. Don’t go close to anybody who avoids difficulty.
Find people who do difficult things. Your mentor should not be a lazy person or someone who avoids work.
The next thing you want in a mentor is for them to be daring. The person should not be challenging; he should challenge things. If your mentor takes risks, he will advise you to be daring.
Some people avoid mentors because they challenge them to do difficult things.
The final thing you want in a mentor is for them to be discerning. A discerning person is someone who can sense things, who can read people. Life is a risk. Having a mentor is a risk. However, if you trust the mentor you have, there are going to be some decisions that will confuse you.
Your mentor will teach you from two things: his successes and his failures. Mentors understand time, and they’ve had their fair share of regrets.
The next thing you need in a mentor is for him to believe in you completely. You don’t need someone mentoring you who does not believe in you. A pessimist will push you down, so don’t get involved with them.
Finding a mentor can be a process. This mentor does not have to fill all the boxes. He can fill up to 80%.
The older we get the more things we are likely to regret. So I hope you find someone who can help you avoid these pits that we normally fall into.
Have a nice day.
