Important notes:
Thank you to all who participated in last week's prompt : It never rains but it pours.
Highlighting @zerah, with the story:
I got to the kitchen and it was not from the kitchen sink. I groaned loudly in frustration, thinking of the next possible source of the problem. Then I glided to the bathroom, only to find the source of the problem: a burst pipe from under the bathroom sink. I stared at the mess with wide eyes, already feeling the weight of the day settling on my shoulders.
Curator's comment :
Zerah offers a delightful CNF piece about how a dreadful experience turned into something pleasant. She describes a vivid scene when her apartment is flooded, and she introduces a colorful character in the person of her neighbor, Mama Chinedu. Mama Chinedu has just been burgled. The two women commiserate over their troubles and then burst into laughter. The sharing of their misfortunes turned into a bonding event.
Highlighting @rammargarita, with the story:
I crossed the street and arrived at Plaza Miranda, where I had the sensation that one heel was crumbling and when I had the chance to walk, I couldn't, as I had one high heel and the other short.
Curator's comment :
This CNF piece is told in such an engaging manner that we laugh at the iguana mishap, although surely this was not funny at the time. The author builds skillfully to the final sentence, spoken by her husband when he cautions her not to have another mishap. @rammargarita strikes just the right tone and has the reader's attention the last word.
In keeping with all things fresh and new that define this time of year, "a clean sweep", means : an absolute victory or a complete change (for the better.)
