Early this year Splinterlands expanded the Foundations cards with Jackpot Cards. These could be won by completing daily tasks and there is a 1.5% chance of winning one. Recently, they once again have expanded the cards in Frontier mode with some new cards available as Jackpot Cards, or the daily free spin on the wheel of Lux's Favor can win you one, and some are available to purchase with Sparks won spinning the wheel as well.
My first win was Bun The Unseen, a rare neutral card with reach ability. Being neutral makes him very useful as a secondary tank even at level one. Some are available for sale right now, but run around $1.20, the price is dropping quickly, so I'm not buying any to level up quite yet.
Let's have a look at the card overall. The Reach ability is useful to attack from second position from level one. The heavy armor is great too, but at level two he picks up Void Armor, meaning that magic attacks the armor before it can damage his health. I can't wait to get there! At level four he picks up a game changer, Silence, which decreases the magic attack of the opposing team's cards by one unit. This will be a great counter to magic teams which predominate Frontier currently. This is an exciting card and has helped me win a lot of matches already.
There are a few more new cards, even a dragon archon, which I will cover soon, but I don't have copies yet. It should be fun to try them all out!
Now time to see the new card in action.
You can see the entire battle here.
This is a Frontier mode battle with a mana cap of 47, high enough allowing me to use the new card. The rulesets are Blood Moon, in which all cards have Bloodlust giving them plus one stats when they defeat an opposing team's card. The other is Earthquake, meaning every round you lose two health or shield to each unit unless they are the flying variety. There aren't too many of those in Frontier mode. This screenshots was taken after buffs were applied but before the action has started.
I chose my archon as Thalgrimore which decreases enemy health by one on each unit. For tank I chose Nim Guard Captain due to his heavy shielding against earthquake. My secondary tank is Buns The Unseen due to his reach ability and very heavy shielding against earthquake. I then used Sorrow Harvester to decrease enemy health by one additional unit, then flying legendary card Little Sister. Since she is flying the earthquake ruleset doesn't affect her, plus she has life leach gaining one health unit on attacks. Last up, I chose New Beluroc Aegis as a taunt card and is heavily shielded.
My opponent also chose the archon of Thalgrimore. For tank they also used Nim Guard Captain followed by Vengeful Monk. Next they used a reach card which is an odd location, this was Savage Butcher. Then they used Kanaaq Miner followed by Sorrow Harvester and Lunaki Howler.
I was surprised to see no flying units on the opposing team and relatively little shielding, so I knew this was going to be a win!
By round two the opponent's tank is weakening.
By round three it was over, Earthquake takes out the opponent's last three cards. Good game to my opponent! Buns The Unseen contributes quite a bit pounding away at the first position card. This is a nice addition to Frontier mode! I can't wait to get mine maxed out, it will take some time until prices come down though!
As always I like to show some great pulls I've gotten recently. Yesterday was a great day on my pack openings. Have a look at the Foundations first:
A gold legendary card pull, talk about luck! Although Celestial Guardian isn't the best legendary card ever, it's still a gold legendary and I'll take it! This is a repeat copy for me, so this one will go on the market for sale.
Nothing too special here...
And a gold foil archon Thalgrimore, talk about good luck! I also gold a gold foil Black Widow and two epic cards.Glimmermancer is a useful card even in Modern once maxed out.
And a Marlai Singariel, too bad it's not gold foil, but still a card that sells well. I have one maxed out in gold foil, so she goes up for sale too!
Now my Gladius case:
A legendary Jini Guise, not too shabby!
Best part is it allowed me too level mine up to a level three. That's very useful as she picks up Silence decreasing magic attacks on the opposing team by one. Overall a very lucky day! Most pack opening aren't this good, this is the exception, not the rule. But it's nice to have days when you get some great pulls!
