This afternoon was a washout in more ways than one!
Dreich, wet and cold and it felt like the first day of winter.
The bright spot of the afternoon was that I managed to nip down to the shops to get some groceries for the next couple of days, without getting rained on!
I have seen a couple of sandwich posts from 
So let's see if we can shill this new community and get some sandwich posts coming along.
That was my typical weekday lunch.
A loaded sandwich with salad meat and cheese, served with mini bbq pork pies and salt and vinegar crisps (not chips thank you very much)
Now sandwiches I am sure mean different things to many people in different countries.
In the UK we are fed sandwiches from the moment we are allowed solid food.
I generally tend to think of sandwiches being closed like in the picture above.
Open sandwiches like the one I will show you now, I associate as not being sandwiches, however this is nonsense.
We used to call open sandwiches as Danish sandwiches and they are generally hot!

An open sandwich, also known as an open-face/open-faced sandwich, bread baser, bread platter or tartine,[1] consists of a slice of bread or toast with one or more food items on top.
Q How do you eat an open sandwich?
A Etiquette-wise, it is wise to eat an open face sandwich with a knife and fork because your toppings may spill from said bread and this would be a tragedy all around.
So there we have it, when we want some warm baby food, and want to use up leftovers, slap it on some toast, put it on a tray, eat it while lounging in front of the telly and call it an Open Sandwich!
Now for some raspberry trifle for dessert, I don't think that will go on bread!
